Give Your Child the Gift of Language!
Polly-Glot Tots Winter Classes start Nov 30

Foreign language is good for you, and even better for your children! The research: children are most receptive to language learning from 6 months to 6 years. After that, they are hardwired and usually embarrassed to say something different!

Immersion caregiver/child and drop off classes in French. Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese are held at the Phinney Neighborhood Center on Phinney Ridge, www.phinneycenter.org. Eastside winter quarter classes in French and Spanish start January 20th. Late starts are pro-rated.

We learn through play, songs, yoga, arts and crafts and more. Come learn with us!

Still wondering what we are on about? Check us out in person at our free story times or online at www.pollyglottots.com where you will find free music, resources and registration, visit www.pollyglottots.com.

Moms Needed Who Want to RUN!

The new year brings on many new beginnings and staying in shape is usually tops the list. But things get in the way; work, family, 5 pounds of holiday cookies. There are small ways to get out and do something for yourself to get your exercise in and de-stress your life. Running is cheap, requires no gear, besides shoes and if your critter is small enough, you can take them along in a jogging stroller. The hardest part is getting started for beginners. First time runners usually start off to fast, get tired, get discouraged and promptly give up. The best way to glide into a running program is to head out slow, and give yourself walk breaks when needed at first. The more you get out, the less you'll need to walk. Once you get more time running and less time walking, look for a 5k in your area to enter. They are tons of fun ones and some of them allow strollers.

If you need some extra coaching, and meet other moms, Mommy Caravan is having a sale for people who sign up for January classes in December: $10 off 6 week class.
The classes are gradual and we will train for a 5k in February. www.mommycaravan.com

8 weekly 2.5 hour evening sessions

Birth and Beyond

For parents of children 1½ to 5

This innovative 8 week workshop is for parents of children between the ages of 1½ to 5 years of age. The aim of the program is to help parents develop skills to enhance their ability to understand and build stronger relationships with their children. In Reflective Parenting groups parents gain confidence by expanding their understanding of the meaning of their children's behavior. This understanding helps parents better regulate their own and their child's emotions with the intention to become less reactive and more reflective. Parents who are able to regain a state of calm are more engaged, more effective, and therefore feel empowered and successful.
